1001 Faces of Muscat

Muscat is the world’s smallest capital. Built in the middle of a plain, it is an oasis in the desert which stretches from the foot of the mountains and which overlooks the Gulf of Oman.

 Grand Mosque

Visit the Grand Mosque of Muscat (open from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., closed on Fridays).

For the mosque visit, women should wear a scarf and dress with the ankles and wrists covered, and men should wear trousers covering the knees. This will be the only clothing restriction of the excursion and will allow you to dive into Omani culture.

Royal Opera & Qurum

See the Royal Opera, opened in 2006, then discover the embassy quarter and the residential quarter of Qurum.

Free lunch (not included).

Bait Al Zubair Museum

Bait Al Zubair Museum

Sultan’s Palace

Sultan’s Palace

Stop for a photo in front of the Sultan’s Palace, which is considered by the Omanis to be a symbol of the country’s rebirth. The palace is flanked by the Portuguese forts Jalali and Mirani, dating from the 16th Century.

Spend some free time in the souk, walking amongst its alleyways scented with incense, where you will find an abundance of jewels, antiques, handicrafts, carpets, ornaments, spices, and many other wonderful treasures…
